RF-5800V-MP

Equipment Description
The RF-5800V-MP is an advanced Very High Frequency (VHF) radio which provides reliable tactical communications performance in a small, lightweight package that maximizes user mobility.
The RF-5800V-MP provides reliable Line-of-Sight (LOS) communications. Supported modulation modes are Frequency Modulation (FM), Frequency Shift Keying (FSK), Continuously Variable Slope Delta (CVSD) and Trellis Code Modulation (TCM). Communications can take place with manpack, mobile and fixed-site radio stations.
The RF-5800V-MP covers 30MHz to 107.99999MHz with three selectable output power levels. The radio operates from either a single BB-390/U nickel-metal hydride rechargeable battery, a BB-490/U Lead Acid, or a BA-5590 lithium primary battery.
Features
The RF-5800V-MP offers the following features:
- 25 programmable net presets containing frequencies and other radio parameters.
- Supports data / voice, data only, or voice only communications.
- Net names can be programmed into the RF-5800V-MP, providing an easy way for radio operators to identify and select a specific net. Each net name can be up to 12 characters long.
- Supports two net structures:
- Fixed-frequency nets are made up of a frequency, mode of operation, squelch setting, transmit power level and a net name.
- Frequency hopping nets are similar to fixed-frequency nets excpet that operation involves hopping on random frequencies between two predetermined frequencies (wideband frequency hopping) or hopping on a predetermined list of specific frequencies (list frequency hopping).
- Removable Keypad Display Unit (KDU) with Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) that supports adjustable backlight and contrast levels. The removable KDU enables operation on-the-move with the radio stowed in the user's backpack.
- Three operator-adjustable transmit power levels:
- Low (1 watt), medium (5 watts) or high (10 watts) using the manpack alone or the manpack with Integrated Filter / Power Amplifier (IFPA) in Bypass mode.
- Low (1 watt), medium (5 watts) or high (50 watts) utilizing the Integrated Filter / Power Amplifier (IFPA).
- Supports FM voice, FSK, CVSD and TCM.
- Built-In Test Equipment (BITS) for radio-operational test and battery checks.
- Built-in Global Positioning Syatem (GPS) (optional) that provides accurate Time-of-Day (TOD) and geographic location information.
- Supports simplex and half-duplex operation.
- Supports retransmit operation.
- Supports automatic and manual ??? operation.
- ??? squelch, noise squelch, 150Hz tone squelch and no squelch operation.
- Supports 10Hz channel spacing in fixed frequency and 25KHz in frequency hopping.
- Supports 5KHz, 6.5KHz and 8KHz FM deviation.
- Supports wideband or list frequency hopping (Electronic Counter Counter Measures [ECCM]) operation.
- Supports encryption (optional).
- Supports 16kb per second (kbps) synchronous data.
- Supports 48kb and 64kbps data rates over fixed-frequency nets (optional).
- Supports remote control operation from a customer-supplied remote control terminal.
- Utilizes a Hold-Up Battery (HUB) to maintain programmed information when the radio is powered off.
- Supports Situation Awareness (SA) capabilities.
- Supports Wireless IP/Directed Calling capabilities.
- Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) interface.
- Vehicular Adaptor Unit Interface.
- Supports connections to an RF-6010 Tactical Network Access Hub as well as the ability to place telephone calls as an outstaion user through an RF-6010 basestation configuation.
